The Apostle's Creed

Good news!  It looks like the house is conditionally sold.  As soon as the deal is sealed, I'll breathe a sigh of relief that we can finally get a move on to the next stage of our move.  Here's hoping!

  So far I've been running around, fixing the screen door, and taking Cassidy places and staying out of Jana's way as we try to market the house.  If this part gets finished, then we can move onto packing and getting the moving details hammered out.

Why I'm not a Christian - The Apostle's Creed

So... Yesterday someone said to me that I was a christian if I followed the Apostle's Creeds.  Slightly amused and quite certain I probably didn't I looked it up.  Here it is as follows;

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy Catholick Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body,
And the Life everlasting.
Amen.

  Here's where we part ways.  First off... Jesus never descended into hell, because as I'm sure I've written before - hell is a fictitious place created by Plato and expounded on by popular mythology to become what religion pushes today.

In short, Jesus could not have descended into hell as no such place ever at any time existed.  Even the Bible doesn't teach this.

 Next - The Holy Catholic Church... This should be a no brainer. Ok?  I don't believe in institutional Churches, so why would I believe in the big grandaddy of em all?  Ugh.. The mere thought...

  The Communion of saints.  Ok this one is dubious.  So if we're talking about praying to saints and having intercession made on our behalf by the saints... No I don't believe in that horse shit.  As I've said before on my earlier blogs.  When you're dead - you're dead.  You are for all intents and purposes ASLEEP. Unconscious.  Unable to intervene in the world of life in ANY way.  Much less listening to prayers.  Good god, this is like greek mythology.

  And lastly - Life everlasting.  This is just a technical point, but the translators of so many editions of the Bible mistranslated eternal and everlasting.  Typically it should be read as EON or EON OF THE EONS.

  At any rate, do I believe we will all live forever?  As far as scripture goes, 1 Corinthians 15 makes it clear we will ALL be raised in the final consummation.  Does this mean eternity?  Probably.

  I really dislike how they call this the "Apostle's Creed" when I can pretty much guarantee the apostle's never wrote any kind of crap like this.  Here's what Paul DID write;

1 Corinthians 15:1-5
1 Now I am making known to you, brethren, the evangel which I bring to you, which also you accepted, in which also you stand,
2 through which also you are saved, if you are retaining what I said in bringing the evangel to you, outside and except you believe feignedly.
3 For I give over to you among the first what also I accepted, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,
4 and that He was entombed, and that He has been roused the third day according to the scriptures,
5 and that He was seen by Cephas, thereupon by the twelve.

  There's NONE of the other baloney that's been peddled  by the Apostle's creed.  Good god people.

  Tradition... Gotta love it... no.  Actually I don't.  It makes people so brain dead and living by rote it's brutal.

   Anyways.  Martin Zender did a fantastic video this weekend that I'm going to embed in here.  Everyone should watch it and everyone should share it.  It's a profound message of hope and truth that... well let's sling it everywhere people!!

For those of you who want those references, read on below;

1 Cor 15:21-28
21 For since, in fact, through a man came death, through a Man, also, comes the resurrection of the dead.
22 For even as, in Adam, all are dying, thus also, in Christ, shall all be vivified.
23 Yet each in his own class: the Firstfruit, Christ; thereupon those who are Christ's in His presence;
24 thereafter the consummation, whenever He may be giving up the kingdom to His God and Father, whenever He should be nullifying all sovereignty and all authority and power.
25 For He must be reigning until He should be placing all His enemies under His feet.
26 The last enemy is being abolished: death.
27 For He subjects all under His feet. Now whenever He may be saying that all is subject, it is evident that it is outside of Him Who subjects all to Him.
28 Now, whenever all may be subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also shall be subjected to Him Who subjects all to Him, that God may be All in all.)

Col 1:20
20 and through Him to reconcile all to Him (making peace through the blood of His cross), through Him, whether those on the earth or those in the heavens.

Eph 1:10
10 to have an administration of the complement of the eras, to head up all in the Christ -- both that in the heavens and that on the earth --

Romans 11:36
36 seeing that out of Him and through Him and for Him is all: to Him be the glory for the eons! Amen!

1 Timothy 4:10
10 (for for this are we toiling and being reproached), that we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind, especially of believers.

Romans 5:18-19
18 Consequently, then, as it was through one offense for all mankind for condemnation, thus also it is through one just award for all mankind for life's justifying.
19 For even as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners, thus also, through the obedience of the One, the many shall be constituted just.

This is the power of Paul's gospel people!!! Live it and LOVE IT!!!
